Have you ever wanted to own an authentic skull cap worn by Pope Francis? Well you may have just missed your chance, as the item went on sale on eBay last week with bids coming in at over €80,000!
An Italian TV show managed to snag the pontiff’s hat when they traded with him as he rode around St Peter’s Square. The host of the show Le Iene (The Hyenas) held out a new skullcap to the pope, and his security passed it on to him.
The pope examined the new hat, put it on his head and gave the other one to the show’s host.
The hat was then posted to eBay and within 24 hours, had already attracted bids of over €70,000.
The holy hat finally sold for a total of €89,050.
The show will donate the money to an Italian charity fighting child mortality in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
