Prime Suspect For Paris Attacks DNA Found In Brussels Apartment

Ellen Tannam

An apartment in Brussels raided by Belgian police this week has uncovered DNA evidence that Salah Abdeslam was likely to be living there prior to fleeing before the investigation took place.

There was a shootout on Tuesday during which one Islamist gunman was shot dead by a police sniper, and Abdeslam is believed to have escaped during this incident, RTBF reports.

Abdeslam is 26 years old, a Brussels-born French citizen of Moroccan descent.

He is alleged to have been highly involved in planning the attacks that took place in the French capital on November 13th during which 130 people lost their lives.

Police believe he escorted the three suicide bombers that blew themselves up at the Stade De France.

Law enforcement are currently trying to determine if the DNA evidence of Abdeslam is recent enough to be taken as evidence he was a resident of the apartment following the attacks last year.
