Anyone who is concerned that they have been a victim of image based sexual abuse is encouraged to contact their local Garda Station.

Gardaí are currently investigating reports of image based sexual abuse involving 200 women.

As RTÉ reports, “intimate” photos of the women have been allegedly shared without their consent on Snapchat. It’s understood that the women affected are in the southeast of the country.

In a statement, Gardaí confirmed that they are investigating reports involving the “posting, sharing and uploading of personal images online”.

They added: “Any person who is concerned that they have been a victim following the uploading of personal explicit imagery online without their consent, at any time, should contact their local Garda Station.”

In Ireland, those who are found guilty of non-consensual distribution will face the penalty of an unlimited fine and up to seven years in prison under the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Bill.

If you have had images or videos of you shared without your consent, you can report it through this portal right here.
