New music is coming too.

If your kids are fans of the Smurfs movie, we have some good news for them.

Rihanna has dropped the huge news that she will be starring as Smurfette in the upcoming Smurfs Movie, after a surprise appearance at CinemaCon.

The singer is due to welcome her second child in the coming weeks with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, who she already shares a son with.

Appearing at the Las Vegas event, the 35-year-old joked that she had her eye on a different role before choosing the animated film.

“I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but It didn’t work out,” she told Variety.

“I get to show up in my PJs in my third trimester,” the Hollywood Reporter said she announced.

“I hope this gives me cool points with my kids one day”.

This isn’t Rihanna’s first time on the big screen as she has starred in Ocean’s 8, Home, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

She won’t be the first singer to play the iconic animated character as Katy Perry and Demi Lovato have both voiced her in the past.

In even better news, for any parents bringing their children to the film, Rihanna also revealed that she would be writing and recording new music for the film.

Fans took to Twitter to share their excitement over the news, with one writing: “MOTHER!!! Music would’ve been better but I guess let’s take what we can at this point”.

Another said: “Rihanna’s career is a rollercoaster and I love it”.

A third added: “The most random thing to ever happen in cinema WHAT?”

While a fourth said: “She’s doing this for her kids”.

It may be exciting news, but we’ll be waiting a while before we see the film as it’s not set to be released until February 14, 2025.
