Two women and a seven-year-old child killed in road accident in Mayo

Very sad news.

Two women and a seven-year old boy have been killed as a result of a collision in Mayo on Monday afternoon.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a truck on the N17 Galway to Sligo Road at Lisduff, near Claremorris, at approximately 12:30pm.

Two women, one aged in her 70s and the other in her 40s, and a seven-year old boy were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was uninjured.

Traffic diversions are in place and forensic collision investigators are at the scene. Southbound traffic is diverted to Ballyhaunis and motorists are asked to avoid the Claremorris/Ballinrobe Junction.

The news comes on the same day that two people were killed and another four injured as a result of a road accident in Cork.
