A Ryanair flight carrying Irish passengers home to vote in today’s referendum is delayed after a collision on the runway.

The wing of a Primera flight going to Malaga clipped the tail of the Dublin-bound Ryanair airplane when they were both on the runway.

The incident occurred at 9.15am this morning at London Stansted airport.

Passengers have been ensured they will travel on a replacement plane later this morning.

In a statement, Ryanair said:

“One of our aircraft was stationary at the designated holding point on the taxiway at London Stansted Airport this morning when the winglet of a Primera Air aircraft taxiing behind scraped its tail stabiliser.

“Both aircraft were under the instruction of London Stansted Air Traffic Control at the time. The Ryanair aircraft returned to stand to be inspected by Ryanair engineers.

“To minimise delay, customers will transfer to a replacement aircraft later this morning.”

The FR205 Ryanair flight was scheduled to leave Stansted at 8.15am this morning.
