Ryanair report racist in-flight incident to police for investigation

Police in the UK are investigating an incident of racism that happened on a Ryanair flight.

Footage of a man using racial slurs against an elderly woman emerged on social media recently to much outrage online.

The man, sitting in the window seat, began insulting the woman when she took too long to move on the October 19 Barcelona to London flight.

The man can be heard saying: “Don’t talk to me in a foreign language you stupid ugly cow” and “I don’t care whether she’s f**king disabled or not. If I tell her to get out, she gets out.”

Ryan released a statement today saying that they were aware of the video and had reported it to UK police.

They said:

The elderly woman eventually moved seats to sit beside her daughter, who can also be seen confronting the man in the video.

The man was not removed from the flight.

The woman’s daughter told Huffington Post that when she complained to cabin crew about the incident, she was told to ring customer services on Monday.

She said:

“I know that if I was behaving like he was, or any other black person for that matter, police would have been called and we would have been kicked off the flight.”

“I’m upset about the whole thing too – the fact that the passenger wasn’t taken off the plane and how the situation was dealt with.”
