Search continues for missing Jastine Valdez after man is killed by Gardaí in Dublin

Jastine Valdez, a 24-year-old student, went missing in Enniskerry on Saturday evening.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of Jastine Valdez, the 24-year-old student disappeared close to her home in Enniskerry on Saturday evening.

A man whom the authorities were looking to speak to in connection with the incident was shot and killed in a Dublin business park on Sunday night.

Early reports that Jastine was at the scene proved to be untrue.

Detectives are looking for information about the movements of the car the man was driving before he was shot and killed by a Garda in Cherrywood, South Dublin.

Witnesses say they saw Jastine being bundled into a Nissan Qashqai on the R760 Kilcrony road near her home in Enniskerry at a 6.45pm on Saturday evening.

The car was spotted by a member of the public at the business park in Cherrywood on Sunday evening; when Gardaí approached the man they discovered he was armed with a knife, and the 40-year-old was subsequently shot and killed.

While the car was subsequently searched, Jastine Valdez was not found.

Gardaí are now checking CCTV, as well as the man’s mobile phone, in order to ascertain the movements of the vehicle prior to 8pm on Sunday night.

Jastine is described as being 1.52m (5ft) tall, of slight build with long black hair and brown eyes.
