The search for an Irishman who went missing while surfing off the coast of Byron Bay in New South Wales, Australia, has resumed.
The 20-year-old went missing on Saturday while surfing with two friends. Eye witnesses raised the alarm when they saw the trio get into trouble.
A 26-year-old was rescued from the water while a 20-year-old was found on the rocks with minor injuries.
The search, which authorities resumed at 7.30am local time, is now believed to have become a recovery operation.
According to the Irish Times, the Irish embassy is offering consular assistance to the family. Authorities are also said to be keeping family members in Australia updated on the search and they are passing on news to relatives in Ireland.
