Selena Gomez has just revealed that she underwent some massive surgery this summer.
In a fight against Lupus, which the singer was diagnosed with in 2015, she has opened up that she needed a recent kidney transplant as part of the recovery.
Sharing all in an Instagram post, the star shared some emotional photographs from hospital plus a moving message describing her love for her fans, praise for her doctors and gratitude for her best friend for donating a kidney to the 25-year-old.
She said: “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made.”
The singer also shared photographs which show body scarring and a swelled stomach post surgery.
Selena decided it was the right time to share the post, after fans wondered why she hadn’t been promoting her new music all summer. She said: “I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering.”
The actress reassured fans that she will tell more about the process and recovery in the following weeks but for now we wish her all the love and support in getting back to good health.
