A powerful explosion occurred in a bakery in the centre of Paris this morning.
It has been reported that 20 people have been injured, two of whom are in critical condition.
The blast happened at around 9am this morning, and blew out the lower part of the seven-storey apartment building in the ninth arrondissement.
It has been said that the explosion was as a result of a gas leak.
American journalist, Emily Molli, tweeted from the scene:
“Destruction for blocks after an explosion on rue de trévise,” she wrote.

“Lots of injuries, heard screaming like some were still trapped. First responders have arrived,” she continued.
Firefighters are currently working to extinguish the flames.
The fire occurs today, as government officials across Paris, and France, gear up for another day of mass protests.
