There's a secret hack to get a discount on a brand-new Kindle on Amazon.
The online retailer often launches discounts on its products during Prime Day, Black Friday, and more.
But you don't have to wait until one of the sales to get a discount on the Kindle device.
You can bag 20% off the Kindle through their "trade-in" scheme, which lets customers trade their old devices to get the discount off their new purchase – as well as an Amazon gift card on top of that.
At the time of writing the 16GB edition of the Amazon Kindle is priced at £94.99 / €109.63, so if you have an older Kindle model that's collecting dust you can trade it in and get 20% off those prices.
Earlier this month Amazon dropped the price of the Kindle by 21% as part of its Prime Day sale, so the trade-in discount is as good as one of Amazon's biggest sales.
The discount is also available on the 16GB Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, which is typically priced at £189 / €184.64, and the 32GB Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, which is priced at £159.99 / €184.64.
So if you trade-in your older Kindle, you can get 20% off those editions.
You can find out more about how Amazon's trade-in discount works below.
If you've got an Amazon Kindle that's registered to your account then you'll be eligible for the trade-in deal.
To find out if your device is registered and eligible just log in to your Amazon account and select the "Save 20% with trade-in" button on the product page.
You can then choose which device you want to trade and you'll receive an Amazon gift card equal to its appraised value plus 20% off a new, qualifying device.
So, this means you can purchase one of the newer models of your current device with a 20% discount on top of the spring sale discount on Amazon.
It's also available on other Amazon products including the Echo Dot or Fire Stick.
