The former CW star was released from jail today.

Smallville actress Allison Mack was today released from jail after her $5 million bail was paid and she was placed under house arrest.

The actress has been charged with sex trafficking for a group run by a so-called “self-help guru” Keith Raniere.

Mack is said to have recruited women to serve as sex slaves by telling them the group was for female mentorship.

The actress, best-known for her role as Chloe Sullivan in Smallville, appeared in court yesterday before being released from custody after agreeing to live with her parents under house arrest until her trial.

The 35-year-old has been charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labour conspiracy while working for the cult NXIVM.

She has pleaded not guilty to all charges and her lawyers are said to be negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors.

Mack was reportedly the “key recruiter” for the cult, luring women into the organisation before they were branded, put on restrictive diets and held as sex slaves.

The group’s leader, Keith Raniere, was arrested back in March and also faces charges of sex trafficking.

He is being held in jail without the option for bail.

Allison Mack could face anything from 15 years to life in prison if found guilty.
