What a way to start the weekend.

The EuroMillions’ top prize was a life-changing €40,736,694 last night.

And while there are tens of thousands of people across the country no doubt hoping to see their numbers come up, it’s now time to check those tickets – as someone in Ireland struck it rich in the draw.

The lucky digits in the main draw were 6, 9, 19, 26, 31 and the lucky stars 11 and 12.

Nobody won the jackpot, although four players (not in Ireland, sadly) each won €339,641 after getting the Match 5 + 1 Star.

Meanwhile, in the EuroMillions Plus draw – worth €500,000 – the winning numbers were 3, 12, 18, 30 and 36 – and one lucky player won the top prize.

The National Lottery later confirmed on Twitter that the winning ticket was sold in Louth – although they didn’t reveal a specific location just yet.

The news comes just a few weeks after a family syndicate won €175 million in the EuroMillions.

The winning ticket for the February 19 draw was purchased at Reilly’s Daybreak in Naul, Dublin.

A spokesman said at the time:

“This is fantastic news not only for the winner but for the lucky shop that sold the ticket.

“And we are delighted for Naul which is a small community.”

The lucky winners took home a cheque of €175,475,380. The sum is the biggest jackpot ever claimed by a ticket holder in Ireland.

To date, there have been more than a dozen Irish winners of the EuroMillions jackpot.
