Sarah McKenna Barry

Congratulations, whoever you are.

One lucky duck in Ireland scooped up last night’s Lotto jackpot worth over €12.7 million.

We don’t know just yet where the winning ticket was sold.

The sum is the largest it’s been in four years. The €12.7 million jackpot had been rolling since Sunday January 30th.

The winning numbers were 4, 14, 20, 23, 27 and 37. The bonus number was 39.

The National Lottery also revealed that 137,000 participants took home prizes last night, both through the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.

On top of the jammy jackpot winner, two other ticket holders nabbed €208,132 each after matching five numbers and the bonus ball.

Additionally, there was one winner of the €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 prize. The ticket was purchased in Co. Laois.

The Lotto Plus 2 winning numbers were 5, 11, 15, 23, 27, 38. The bonus number was 35.

The lucky jackpot winner has entered the illustrious halls of Irish Lottery history.

Since 1998, just 26 jackpots worth over €10 million have been won in Ireland.

As well as making one jammy individual €12.7 million richer, the Irish Lotto has raised over €20.8 million for a number of worthy causes since January.

The Lottery first launched their National Lottery Good Causes Awards in 1987, and since then they have funded thousands of individuals, organisations and sports clubs throughout the country.

The initiative has seven categories: sport, health and wellness, community, youth, arts and culture, heritage and Irish language.

According to the Irish lottery’s website, almost 30c from every €1 spent on tickets goes towards these causes. An estimated €5.8 billion has been raised since the programme began.
