A while back, police in Sea Girt, New Jersey thought that some vandals were messing with their lighting display when some of the wires appeared to be damaged just before their Christmas tree was due to be lit up.
However, as it turns out, the culprit was actually a little squirrel who was just having a light nibble on the lights to keep himself busy.
He even returned to the site of the crime to have another go on the lights meaning that he was, of course, caught in the act.

Sea Girt police issued a press release informing locals that the culprit had been caught, charged with criminal mischief, and eventually released on bail.
