Status Yellow weather warning issued for rain and wind

A number of weather warnings are currently in place throughout the country.

Met Éireann has issued a number of Status Yellow wind and rain warnings, with strong winds and large amounts of rainfall expected in several parts of the country today.

A Status Yellow wind weather warning is currently in place in Cork and Kerry and will remain in place until midnight. According to Met Éireann, wind mean speeds will reach between 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 80 to 110 km/h are also expected. Higher gusts are expected in the coastal regions.

A Status Yellow wind warning is also in place in Wexford and Waterford until 4.00 pm this afternoon. Southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50-60km/h and gusts of 80-100km/h are also expected.

Meanwhile, Status Yellow rainfall warnings are in place in Clare, Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Mayo and Galway until midnight tonight. Rainfall amounts of 30-50mm are expected, as well as some localised flooding. Mountainous areas can expect higher volumes of rain.

Two marine warnings are in effect. A Status Orange Storm Force warning has been issued from Mizen Head to Valentia until 7.00 pm this evening. A Status Yellow Gale warning is in place for all coasts of Ireland, as well as the Irish Sea.
