Torrential downpours and gales overnight have caused widespread chaos around the country this morning, with a Status Orange weather warning issued by Met Éireann in effect until 2pm this afternoon.
The damage caused by Storm Frank has been extensive, with many power outages reported across the country. According to RTÉ News, over 4,000 homes are still awaiting the return of electricity and many roads have been closed due to severe flooding.
Cork and the Midlands have been most adversely affected by flooding, with rivers bursting their banks and streets filling with water.
Devastating for families affected as badly as this. People are going to need community help. #Midleton#corkfloodspic.twitter.com/ltwNUjdMUL
