Study shows interesting results about cleavage and the workplace

Surprising?

Louise Carroll

She’s not bossy… She’s the boss.

It seems the old school idea of ‘protecting all our modesty’ is dying a death (yippee!), at least when it comes to our cleavage.

Research published in the Journal of Social Psychology analysed results after showing 170 women and 29 men various pictures of women and their choice of attire in the workplace.

The photographs depicted professionally dressed women – some wearing a blouse with more buttons left undone compared to others, revealing more boob, while others sported a camisole underneath their shirt making sure not to show any cleavage.

The results – that surprised researchers – showed that those who had left those buttons undone were considered powerful and authoritative. In comparison, the camisole did little to promote the rank of women in the workplace as these were seen as being less mature with little influence over others in the workplace.

Perhaps people see feminine features like these as signifying matriarchy, strength and dominance. We always knew our boobs were simply amazing!
