A suspect has been arrested after several people were struck by a vehicle in New York City.
The incident is believed to have taken place at around 3.20pm local time near the West Side Highway in Lower Manhattan, close to the World Trade Center.
While early reports suggest the driver fired what appeared to be a gun, it was subsequently revealed that the suspect was carrying imitation firearms.
Police have encouraged people to avoid the area with emergency services at the scene.

Earlier a vehicle entered the West St. pedestrian/bike path a few blocks north of Chambers St.
