"They never actually said they were banning me from school grounds, they never said they were banning me from working at any other school, they never said they were banning me from thus-and-so many feet of any school. They never said any of that.”Haglin was having sexual relations with a 17-year-old for almost a year, first starting in October 2015. Despite her sexual exploitation being uncovered by the first school she worked in, no one reported the crime, thus letting Haglin continue working with children.
“[They] knew full well that I was there, there was no way they could not have known. I’m sure that they were tracking me and checking me.”Although the school administrators did not report Haglin's crimes, one unknown figure did, which then opened up an investigation by police in Cedar Rapids. Mary Beth Haglin now faces a prison term of two years, and 10 years on the sex offender registry.
