Team Ireland Win An Incredible 86 Medals At Special Olympics World Games

Huge congratulations are in order for this year’s Team Ireland.

Team Ireland has scooped an incredible 86 medals at this year’s Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, California.

The 88 competing athletes won gold, silver and bronze across a range of sports including basketball, athletics, equestrian, gymnastics, football, table tennis, badminton, bocce and aquatics while representing Ireland on the international stage.

The final count saw 26 gold, 29 silver and 31 bronze medals for Team Ireland, as well as records in personal bests and more than 40 placement ribbons.

Congratulations flooded in for the teams online, with Special Olympics Ireland noting it was the most successful year yet for Ireland at the games.

Speaking about the sporting achievements from the athletes, coaches and managers, Team Ireland CEO, Matt English, said:

“Each and every member of Team Ireland has put in an extraordinary effort here in Los Angeles.”
