A picture truly does speak a thousand words.
This shot was taken at a public rally in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at a #BlackLivesMatter protest condemning police brutality against black people. It was captured by Jonathan Bachman, a New Orleans native, and is being hailed as a perfect encapsulation of the tensions currently boiling over in the US.

The elegant young woman in the photo looks calm and in control. She is met by two seemingly edgy police officers who look like they are dressed in military armour and ready for war.
Soon after the photograph was taken, the woman - a mother of a five-year-old child - was arrested and detained overnight. As yet, the woman hasn't been identified.
However,
the BBC reports that a nurse has claimed on Facebook to be the woman in the picture, and said she is "alive and safe".
Photographer Bachman
told BuzzFeed News:
“I photographed someone arguing with an officer and then I looked over my shoulder and saw her there and she had every intention of not moving. She just stood there and made her stand. I was just happy to be able to capture something like that.”
The picture was taken at one of the many protests and displays of solidarity following
two separate racial incidents involving the killing of black men last week.
Solidarity protests have also been held outside of the US.
