Post-mortem examinations are due to be carried out on the bodies of a father and son found in an Ashtown stream yesterday.RTÉ report they have been named as Sean Sweeny who was in his 30s, and his 3-year-old son Lee.
They had apparently been visiting relatives in the Ashington estate off the Navan Road on the afternoon of Easter Sunday.
It is thought they tried a shortcut through a fence over the Royal Canal and slipped into the stream where they were found.
A spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann says the fencing was repaired as recently as 12 March, but there had been issues with fence damage previously.
