An Garda Síochána will be conducting a massive speed-limit enforcement operation throughout the country for 24 hours starting at 7am on Friday, May 27th.

The operation is entitled ‘Slow Down’ and is aimed at reducing the number of speed-related collisions on our roads.

All 1,031 speed enforcement zones will be monitored by Gardaí and there will also be a national road safety message delivered across the Irish media as well as social netowrks.

Gardaí will also be manning display stands and handing out road safety literature across the country.

Members of the public are asked to support the operation using the #ThumbsUp hashtag on Twitter.
