A deal has been struck which means the Luas strike planned for tomorrow has been cancelled.

RTÉ report that the operator Transdev and two of the four employee grades employed by them have reached a compromise, and a full service will now be in operation for St. Patrick’s Day.

The talks took places over almost a whole day yesterday with help from the Workplace Relations Commission.

According to RTÉ: “Transdev made a proposal involving a 2% pay rise on acceptance of the deal, with a further 2% on 1 January 2017, another 2% on 1 January 2018 and 2% on 1 January 2019.”

From mid-2018, drivers will also have received a long service increment if they had been at the top of the pay scale for five years.
