There’s going to be major disruptions to the DART this bank holiday

Olivia Hayes

You might want to rethink your plans if you’re getting the DART today.

On days like today and yesterday, it’s safe to say that many of us make our way to the seaside towns to enjoy the sun and have a bit of a laugh.

However, due to ‘major line improvement works’ there will be no DART services from Dublin Connolly to Malahide or Howth on today, May 6.

Not so handy if you fancy soaking up the sun in Howth this afternoon.

DART users won’t be the only ones affected today either. The Northern Commuter line will also not run today, but there will be a Dublin Bus transfer taking commuters from Connolly to Malahide.

The buses will depart from the Connolly Station car park located off platform 2.

Of the line improvement works, Irish Rail said: “Iarnród Éireann is continuing its programme of line improvement works on selected Saturdays, focusing this year on the section between Newbridge and Ballybrophy.

“The annual investment of €10 million in line improvements will lead to higher reliability, smoother running of trains and with other works deliver consistent 160kph speeds (100 mph). This will deliver journey time improvements for customers.”

Just make sure to take note of any changes here if you are travelling today.
