Motorists have also be warned to be wary of trees and fallen debris this morning. Vehicles should only drive through water if it is shallow enough to be passed through.

Dublin Airport has said that all flights out of the airport are operating as normal and were not affected by the storm.

This came after a number of flights were cancelled out of the capital yesterday evening. Several more were diverted from Shannon Airport.

Four weather warnings were issued by Met Eireann ahead of the storm’s arrival.

A Status Yellow wind warning had been issued for the entire country until 6pm yesterday, with a Status Orange wind warning for certain counties in the west.

A Status Yellow wind warning remains in place for Longford, Westmeath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Clare.

The warning is valid from Friday October 4 at 7am to 11am.
