Three men, all aged in their 20s, were arrested for public order offences on Saturday.

Three arrests have been made by Gardaí after large crowds gathered in Temple Bar on Saturday night.

Gardaí confirmed to JOE.ie that three men, all aged in their 20s, were arrested for public order offences last night.

Footage that has gone viral on social media showed crowds gathered there last night before Gardaí “engaged with those present and the crowd dispersed.”

People took to Twitter yesterday night and this morning to express their frustration at the crowds gathering in spite of current social distancing and public health guidelines.

One frustrated Twitter user penned: “So yes, keep non-essential travel not allowed for people following the rules and for 14 months away from their families, but allow this large gathering just for takeaway pints in Temple Bar.”

“Lads, what am I missing? Current scenes in temple bar, street party? I do be around this area a lot and never seen it like this,” added another.

“Gardaí attended the Temple Bar area yesterday evening, Saturday 22 May 2o21. A number of persons were gathered in the area,” Gardaí said in a statement to JOE on Sunday.

“Gardaí engaged with those present and the crowd dispersed. Three males, all aged in their 20s, were arrested for public order offences,” it added.
