A man has been shot after he ploughed through pedestrians in the German university town of Heidelberg.
Three people have reportedly been injured in the incident, which took place outside a bakery in Bismarckplatz. One victim is said to be a serious condition.
The driver, who witnesses say was carrying a knife, left the scene on foot and was later tracked down by police, who shot him following a short stand-off.

The driver is said to be in a serious condition in hospital.
While it is not yet known whether the incident was intentional, police tweeted:
“A man drove into groups of people, three hurt, the suspect arrested and wounded,”
