Tragic news this morning.
Three members of the same family have been found dead in a home in Co Kerry.
Gardaí were called to a premises at Ballyreahan between the villages of Lixnaw and Kilflynn in north Kerry at 9pm last night.
The bodies of two people, a woman in her 60s and a man aged 23, were discovered with fatal gun shot wounds. The body of a man in his 60s was later discovered near a neighbour’s home. A firearm was also discovered close by.
RTÉ News reports that Gardaí are not looking for anybody else in relation to the incident, which is being treated as a double murder suicide.
An investigation has been launched but a motive has not yet been identified.
The two scenes, inside the house and outside near the neighbour’s home, will be examined by the Garda Technical Bureau later today.
A pathologist from the State Pathologist’s Office will also examine the scene before the bodies are removed to University Hospital Kerry
Post mortems are due to take place soon.
