Get the cream on lads, it’s going to be a scorcher.

Welcome to May 28, 2020, or as it is otherwise known: the hottest day of the year.

Today, temperatures are set to rise as high as 26 degrees in some parts of the country as the clouds lift, the sun shines, and we all take advantage of the fact that working from home meaning sitting out the back garden for the entire day.

Blissful, some might even say.

According to Met Éireann, today will be warm, dry, and mostly sunny, with maximum temperatures generally ranging between 22 and 26 degrees.

The heat will be more intense locally in parts of the midlands and the west, but the rest of the country is still in for a scorcher of a day regardless.

It will be a little cooler on eastern and southern coasts due to onshore breezes, but the good weather will continue on throughout the day and into the evening with temperatures not dropping below 10 degrees as we come into the night.

There’s much of the same leading into the bank holiday weekend with temperatures as high as 24 degrees on Friday.

More of this, please.
