It’s an unimaginable tragedy: following a serious traffic collision in Co Kildare earlier this week, it has been announced that a toddler has died.
The three-year-old little girl was receiving medical treatment in Temple Street Children’s Hospital, but sadly she lost her fight for life.
Her father, who was injured in the incident and who was driving the car at the time, remains at Tallaght Hospital where he is recovering.
“The collision occurred when two cars collided at approximately 8.05am on the R413 Brannockstown to Kilcullen Road on Thursday,” reports RTE.ie.

Initially, the girl was treated in Naas General. However, as the extent of her injuries became apparent – she was transferred to Dublin for more specialist treatment.
She was pronounced dead on Sunday.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses; they have asked that anyone with information contact Naas Garda Station on 045-884300.

In 2017, there were 144 fatal collisions resulting in 159 fatalities on Irish roads.
The RSA says that road deaths are the leading cause of child mortality in Ireland – with road traffic collisions accounting for 36.7 percent of all child deaths.
In 2014, 14 children under the age of 15 lost their lives; seven were passengers, seven were pedestrians.
