A three-year-old child has been killed after being hit by a van in Portlaoise this afternoon.
The toddler was struck by the vehicle shortly after noon in St Brigid’s Place and was rushed to Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise. However, the young girl was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
Gardai have launched an investigation into the collision and any witnesses are asked to call Portlaoise Garda Station on (057) 8674100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
