Timetable: how are the trams, buses, and trains running over the Easter weekend?

Are you travelling today?

Gillian Fitzpatrick

Hurrah! It’s a long weekend.

If you’re lucky – you might even be off work today. Otherwise, you’re probably hitting the road or going to get a train or bus this evening.

Unfortunately, the Fridays of bank holiday weekends are notoriously hectic on public transport – but at least we’ve the most up-to-date information so you can properly plan your journey:

Irish Rail

There is ‘significant disruption’ on all Heuston routes – including Cork, Galway, Limerick and Tralee – due to engineering works between Heuston and Newbridge.

Bus transfers are in operation for the entire Dublin to Waterford line due to works at Kilkenny, as well as between Limerick Junction and Waterford due to flooding.

For more information, see the Irish Rail website.

DART

DART services are operating to a Saturday timetable on Good Friday.

Irish Rail warns that in order “to facilitate track improvement works” on Saturday March 31 and Sunday April 1, there will be no DARTs operating between Howth, Malahide, and Dublin Connolly. Bus transfers will operate between Connolly and Drogheda, and between Dublin Connolly and Skerries.

Dublin Bus

Dublin Bus is operating a normal weekday service – however, there are currently some alterations and cancellations on routes 25x, 27x, 32x, 46e, 51x, 116, and 118. Full details here.

Nitelink will run as normal on Friday and Saturday, but there will be no Nitelink on either Sunday or Monday.

Until around 3pm on Sunday, there will also be temporary diversions in the city centre to facilitate the Easter Rising Commemorations.

A Sunday service will be in operation on Easter Monday.

Luas

Luas will be running a Saturday service on Good Friday as well as Easter Saturday – which means trams at intervals between 6.30am and 12.30am.

Easter Sunday has a normal Sunday service; trams between 7am and 11.30pm.

However, there will be no Green Line services between Dominick and St Stephen’s Green until 4pm due to the Easter Rising Commemorations. Until that time, trams will still run between Broombridge and Dominick, and between St Stephen’s Green and Brides Glen.

On Easter Monday, there will be a Sunday service between 7am and 11.30pm.

Bus Éireann

Buses are operating to their normal schedule from Good Friday to Easter Sunday, however, there will no college-only services on Easter Sunday.

On Easter Monday, there will be a Sunday service in operation.
