“This will be a moment for all of us.”

Last year, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was praised for including a more diverse lineup of models from many ethnicities and nationalities, however, the show still has a long way to go until it becomes truly representative of women everywhere.

Ashley Graham has been drawing attention to this for years, pointing out how the brand has yet to include any plus-size models in their runway show.

Well, now Leyna Bloom is speaking up for transgender women having started a Twitter campaign to become the first transgender woman of colour to walk the famous runway.

A post shared by Leyna Bloom (@leynabloom) on

Leyna took to Twitter on Monday to kick off her campaign to be included in the 2018 show, saying:

“Trying to be the first trans model of colour to walk a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. #TransIsBeautiful”

“Next year, they need to cast trans and curve models, all colour, not just Caucasians,” Leyna said when last year’s show aired.

Well, Twitter is all for it as in just a few days, Leyna’s post has received over 92,000 likes and has been retweeted nearly 30,000 times, with people now tagging the lingerie brand and asking that Leyna be included in the show.

This isn’t the first time however that people have asked VS to cast a trans model in their runway show.

Back in 2013, over 40,000 people signed a petition to have trans model and former RuPaul’s Drag Race star Carmen Carrera walk in the show.

While the campaign wasn’t successful, it did draw attention to the huge lack of transgender models walking in major runway shows.
