NYPD are currently investigating her death.

Tributes have been pouring in for an Irish woman who was found dead in New York on 1 March.

Denise McKenna, who is originally from Monaghan, had been living in Brooklyn at the time.

On Tuesday last week, New York police responded to an emergency call out and found her unconscious and unresponsive.

A spokesperson said she had injuries consistent with falling from an elevated position.

NYPD is currently investigating the death and a cause has yet to be determined by a local medical officer.

However, according to RTÉ, the death does not appear to be suspicious at this time.

Many people have shared their condolences and memories of Denise on rip.ie

“So sad to hear of Denise’s passing. She made me feel so welcome when I first met her in Brooklyn. I always remember her kindness,” one person said.

Another wrote: “I’m so sorry to the McKenna family for your terrible loss of a beautiful and glamorous Denise, such a lovely elegant girl gone too soon.

“May she rest in peace and may her family find comfort in all the beautiful memories ye have, rest easy Denise.”

The 51-year-old’s funeral will be taking place today, Wednesday, in her hometown of Castleblayney.
