Truck Blaze Causes Traffic Chaos In Dublin City

Ellen Tannam

A truck went on fire just before 5.30pm near the Dublin Port Tunnel.

The vehicle was able to stop at a bridge a short distance away from the entrance to the tunnel, which had to be closed for a short time.

The driver of the truck has escaped without injury.

Dublin Fire Brigade have put the fire out and the tunnel has since been reopened.

Both bores are open, however, traffic is filtering into a single lane, and severe delays are to be expected.
