Two Irish-born children and their mother were killed by their father in a murder-suicide in Poland three days before Christmas.

Victor Marin Del Sol murdered his sons, nine-year-old Oskar and seven-year-old Christian, by strangulation on December 22 before killing their mother, Ewelina Szwarc.

He then took his own life.

The Irish Independent reports that Marin Del Sol, originally from Spain, had travelled to the Polish town of Pyrzyce to visit his family ahead of Christmas.

He murdered his sons and waited for Szwarc to return home before stabbing her to death.

The couple’s 11-year-old daughter managed to escape the scene before her father died by suicide.

The couple’s three children had spent a year in schools in south Dublin before moving to Poland with their mother.

Marin Del Sol stayed in Ireland working as a waiter in south Dublin.

The investigation is ongoing.
