Two people have been killed and two injured in a series of shooting incidents in Dublin today.

A man in his 40s was fatally injured when he was shot at Earlfort View in Lucan at 7.30pm this evening. He was transferred to Tallaght Hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead. A burnt-out car, believed to be linked to the shooting, was found at another estate in the town and gardai have now launched an investigation into the incident.

A woman in her 60s also died today after being shot at her home in Killenarden Place in Tallaght shortly after 4pm. It’s believed that a man entered the house and wounded the woman before shooting her daughter in the face. Gardai arrested a suspect, aged in his thirties, at the scene and have confirmed that he was known to the women. It is understood that the man sustained non life-threatening injuries and is being treated at St James Hospital tonight.

Anyone who may have information in relation to the shooting is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station.
