Forces were called to a house in Tallanstown where the bodies of two men and a woman were discovered.
Tallanstown is a village about 11km southwest of Dundalk.
RTE reports that all three are from the same family, and that it is believed they were violently attacked and fatally injured.
A man has been arrested.
Gardaí believe it is a self-contained incident, and say there is no further threat to the public.
