The incident occurred on Friday.

Two people have been charged over the death of a two year old girl in Tyrone.

The toddler was rushed to hospital on Friday with head injuries from a home in Dungannon but later died in hospital.

In a statement, the PSNI said that a 32 year old man has been charged with murder and perverting the course of justice, along with a 24 year old woman being charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

The two are set to appear at Omagh Magistrates’ Court sometime later today.

The two-year-old is also believed to have not lived in the house where the incident occurred, instead living in a separate estate with her mum and brother.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives from Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the circumstances of the death of a two-year-old girl on Friday, 6 August, have charged a man and a woman.

“The man, aged 32, has been charged with murder and perverting the course of justice. The woman, aged 24, has been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

“They are both expected to appear before Omagh Magistrates’ Court later today (Tuesday, August 10).”
