Two people have died following road crash in Co Louth

The incident occurred this morning.

Two people have died and another has been injured following a road traffic collision in Co Louth.

The incident occurred at approximately 8.20am on the N33 Ardee link road. The crash involved three vehicles.

One male driver, in his early 50s, was fatally injured when his car collided into a second vehicle. The male driver, in his mid 30s, of the second vehicle was also fatally injured.

Both bodies have been removed to the mortuary in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. The passenger of the second car was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The driver of the third car was also taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed to allow for forensic examinations. Diversions are in place.
