Irish households will be paid up to €400 a month for hosting Ukrainian refugees, according to reports.
The measure is designed to help with the overall cost of the process, including household utility bills, with plans to implement the payment currently being discussed at Government level.
Sources confirmed the amount to RTÉ News, who report that discussions on the matter have already taken place between a number of governmental departments.
It is understood that details on the payment could be formally announced by next week.
The Department of Children and Equality will determine who qualifies for the payment and precisely how much money they will subsequently receive.
The Department of Social Protection will ultimately distribute the relevant payment.
On Thursday, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said that there is no limit on Ireland in terms of the amount of refugees the country will welcome from Ukraine.
Since the Russian invasion began in late February, over five million Ukrainian citizens have fled their country.
Almost 25,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived into Ireland thus far.
As of Good Friday, over 6,000 empty homes had been offered up to accommodate the influx of refugees.
However, the Irish Red Cross has noted that over half of the accommodation pledged by the Irish public has fallen through.
