Footage has been shared on Twitter of the moment a Ukrainian woman confronted a Russian soldier, telling him he had no business in her country.
The clip was recorded just hours after Russia launched their attack on Ukraine. In the video, we see the woman approach the soldier and ask him why he is there, before telling him he is sure to die if he stays in Ukraine. https://twitter.com/HannaLiubakova/status/1496866773764825093?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1496866773764825093%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nzherald.co.nz%2Fworld%2Frussia-invades-ukraine-woman-praised-after-confronting-group-of-russian-soldiers%2F4TYPYLDL53WLRSZ2CEBUFV2IDY%2F When the soldier says they are there for "exercises", the woman replies: "So what the f*** are you doing here?" He then tells her she is escalating the situation and their conversation will "lead to nothing", before asking her to leave. But she continues to question him. The video is in Russian, but one Twitter user offered a translation of the dialogue for English speakers. "You're occupants, you're fascists," the woman tells him. "What the f**k are you doing on our land with all of these guns?" Then, in a heartbreaking move, she offers the soldier sunflower seeds (a flower native to Ukraine) for himself and his comrades to put in their pockets - so at least flowers will grow on Ukrainian land when they inevitably die during the violence. But again, he tells her she is escalating the situation, so she says: "How can it be further escalated? You came here uninvited." It comes as more explosions were heard over Ukraine's capital of Kyiv early on Friday morning as the second day of Russia's attack began with a barrage of missiles. https://twitter.com/BackAndAlive/status/1497038936744636453 Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba compared it to a historic attack on the city by the Nazis during World War II. "Last time our capital experienced anything like this was in 1941 when it was attacked by Nazi Germany," he said on Twitter. "Ukraine defeated that evil and will defeat this one. Stop Putin. Isolate Russia. Severe all ties. Kick Russia out of (everywhere)." Many of Kyiv's residents have taken shelter underground in metro stations - scenes reminiscent of those witnessed in Europe during WWII. Others are fleeing the capital, with many even crossing the borders to try to escape into neighbouring countries. The thrilling new Irish novel you won’t be able to put down
