The reason for the emergency landing is being reported as a maintenance issue.
A United Airlines flight from Newark to Paris was forced to make an emergency landing in Shannon Airport at around 9:30 this morning.
It was initially unclear why but United Airlines have since clarified the situation, replying to a query on Twitter to say that the flight diverted to Shannon for maintenance.
