A 13-year old boy has died this morning after he got into difficulty while swimming in Blanchardstown yesterday evening.
The young boy is believed to have jumped in to a pond in the Waterville House residential complex to help a 13-year old girl who got into difficulty while swimming. Another girl who was with the teenage boy also jumped in to offer assistance, but paramedics were subsequently called to retrieve the three teens from the water.
The three teens were rushed to Temple Street Children’s hospital, where the boy spent the night in intensive care before passing away this morning.
The two girls are said to in a stable condition.
