The CervicalCheck campaigner has flown back to the US.

Vicky Phelan is set to start a new clinical trial after learning of growth in her tumours. The women's health advocate and mother-of-two has flown back to the States after a brief trip home to discuss her new treatment plan. Sharing a photo of a plane at Dublin Airport, she gave her followers an update this week. "I am back in the States since Sunday evening and met with my doctor yesterday to discuss a plan going forward," she said. "Basically, my team are not seeing the results that they would like and think it would be best if I come off my current trial and start on a new (but similar) trial which has just started enrolling patients on it this week." https://www.instagram.com/p/CSdQqQYrqQd/ Vicky, who has been an advocate for cervical cancer and women's health since her diagnosis, added that after being informed of a growth in her tumours, she made the difficult decision to return to the States. She said that she felt "very emotional" about leaving her children for the second time as she returned to treatment. "I did not want to come back!" she said. "I spent the first two days this week crying every time I thought of my kids and I found it so difficult trying to hold it together when I spoke to them on FaceTime. I almost booked a flight home." This comes after Vicky shared some of the symptoms she experienced after receiving false negatives results in her CervicalCheck results. These included a bright pink bleeding during her period as opposed to regular dark blood, and profuse bleeding after sex. Vicky was one of over 200 women directly affected by the CervicalCheck controversy in which a series of false negative results were issued to women in Ireland.
