The pressures of social media are real.
On this week’s episode of Girls With Goals, Niamh Maher is joined on the panel by viral queens Pamela Joyce and Ciara Knight. Between them, they know a thing or two about social media, but having thousands of followers comes with its own set of problems.

Pamela Joyce first came to prominence over two years ago with her hilarious videos that quickly went viral, from her Irish Mammy impersonations to the blogosphere no-one was safe from her quick wit and keen observations.
Despite the popularity of her page (she has over 30,000 followers) Pamela told us she won’t be making any more videos for now (46:30). She made the executive decision to step away from creating videos as she says “the bigger the page got, the more pressure it was for the content to be amazing, and I didn’t enjoy doing it”.
She maintains that unless a good idea comes to her, she’ll leave it for the time being. We have to say, we’re kind of devastated!
Our guests also chatted to Niamh about the objectives of social media (5.30). Ciara maintains it’s a “fun way to waste time“, while Pamela (jokingly) believes that the main objective is to lower the nation’s self-esteem and is generally a bad influence on people. The ladies also discuss the topic of ‘making friends as an adult’ without coming across as a creep. The struggle is real.
Our Spotlight on Sport this week focuses on the legendary Paralympian Patrice Dockery (19.40) She chats to Niamh about her incredible career that spanned two decades, she also talks about life after competing, raising a daughter and her hopes for the future of the Paralympics.
