Prices in Ireland has skyrocketed over the last number of years.

Trying to pay rent in Dublin can be heartbreaking, and we’ve all seen those ‘studio’ apartments that literally have a toilet, kitchen and bed squeezed into one room. Harrowing.

However, now the most expensive place to live last year in Ireland has been revealed, and we’re not all that surprised about it.

Sandycove in Dublin has been voted the most expensive place to buy a house in Ireland, according to Daft.ie’s Wealth Report.

Property values there reach an average of €910,000, while Dalkey has the highest concentration of property millionaires, coming in at 609, followed by Blackrock with 576 and Rathgar with 551.

However, property millionaires have grown within a year, coming in at 4,500 which is a rise of 762 since last year.

The author of the report, Ronan Lyons said: “Housing wealth is accelerating fastest in a number of markets in the greater Dublin area, both central, such as Dublin 1 and Dublin 10, and further out, like Westmeath and Louth”, he said.

“This highlights that access to employment, and other urban amenities, is still front and centre for those looking for a home.”
